This lovely little holiday cottage is situated in Cemaes Bay, Anglesey, the most northerly village in Wales. It’s less than 100 yds from the harbour quay, from which you can go on sightseeing or fishing trips.
The cottage is set in a small cul-de-sac. It is laid out in an upside down style, with a large double bedroom on the ground floor, along with the bathroom. Upstairs is the large airy open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with exposed timber floorboards. There is a large sofa bed, TV/DVD player & a fully fitted kitchen with microwave/toaster/kettle/stove etc.
The village boasts a selection of pubs & shops including a butcher, post office,bakery, tea rooms & a general store.
Cemaes offers a holiday for all ages, with the Blue Flag beaches offering safe paddling & the chance to go rock pooling or just soaking up the sun.
There are isolated coves just a short walk along the headland. Where you can escape to enjoy the serenity of the cliffs & sea & forget the stresses & strains of daily life.
For the more hardy walker, the route toward Amlwch provides spectacular views as you go past Llanbadrig church, where it is reputed that St. Patrick was shipwrecked onto the rocky shore below.
Cemaes provides the chance to indulge in both shore & sea fishing, with varieties such as Mackeral, Pollack, Sea Bass & Whiting on offer. Who knows, you could be catching your own dinner!
Many bird watchers are attracted to Cemaes Bay & the surrounding areas. Herring, & blackbacked gulls, herons & waders such as Redshank & Oyster catcher can be seen. Nearby Cemlyn bird reserve is home to the only substantial colony of Sanwich Terns in Wales. Add this to the Artic Terns, Ringed Plovers, Red-breasted Merganser amongst many others & you really do have a bird watchers paradise.
Fancy a day trip to Dublin? Two holidays in one! Holyhead is about 25 minutes away, & the ferry takes less than 2 hours to get there. Tickets can be bought on the day.
The Snowdonia National Park is a 40 minute drive from Cemaes, & the mountains can be seen as you drive along the A5025, passing the picturesque villages of Benllech and Moelfre before getting to Beaumaris, with it’s well preserved castle & town jail. Boat trips to Puffin Island can be arranged next door to the RNLI station. The views across the Menai Straights are pretty spectacular.
Prices start from £140 per week in the low season, up to £220 during the summer.
Electricity is free of charge, just bring your own linen.
